Cornerstone of Topeka, Inc., offers the following services to low-income residents of Shawnee County, Kansas:

Transitional Housing and Education Program (THEP)

This program provides temporary housing (up to 6 months) as well as education and support services to homeless families with children. Admission to the program is by referral from a shelter or social service agency. Selection criteria apply.

Rental Housing

Cornerstone has more than 100 units of below-market rental housing in both apartments and single family homes. Section 8 and other rental assistance programs are accepted. Household income must be at or below 60% of Area Median Income. Some units are restricted to lower income, or for special needs such as homeless or disabled.

Home Ownership

Cornerstone had an active home ownership program for several years. Although we no longer have home ownership opportunities as a primary activity, we will consider purchase of selected homes by qualified tenants.

Assistance and Referrals

If Cornerstone does not have a program that meets your needs, our staff will gladly try to assist you by providing information about other area resources. As we are not staffed to provide a full-time resource person, please understand the limitations on the time we may be able to spend doing so.
